He cast himself, and the family cat

StarringMarcus himself, nose ring and all

After his dad's much-loved cat, Sixten, died, Marcus made a First World War film in which Sixten is the secret weapon on one last mission, and put his own face on the soldier who sends him[18]. Two minutes long, it ends at a headstone with Sixten's name on it[3].

Imagine a sad passing away of a cat in your family that was much beloved, and you can go and make it a war movie now.

07Biography

The Marcus Grip story

A camera, a drone and a lot of travel

Marcus Grip has more than 20 years of experience in traditional media, and he has been putting himself on camera for much of that time[34]. The oldest video on his YouTube channel, from February 2012, is a film he made for Tropical Bungee in San José, Costa Rica, about the jump he called the most awesome feeling he had had so far[15]. Through the 2010s the channel became a travel and adventure diary: volunteer trips in Costa Rica, India, Bali, a cold swim and a hike in Lofoten in Norway, FPV drone chases, and a GH5 camera review titled after two years as a travel freelancer[1][2].

Two short videos from 2016 show how he pitched himself. WHY I LOVE TO TRAVEL was made for an application to Beautiful Destinations[16]. WHY I'M MARCUS 2.0, a two-minute application to join Team Overkill posted in December 2016, is still his most watched upload, with more than 101,000 views[13]. He apologised in the description for the sound, because he had recorded it while packing for Spain[13].

The Swiss Knife of content creators

His portfolio site calls him the Swiss Knife of Content Creators and lists portraits, adventure brands, travel, motorsports, commercials, events and non-profit video[12]. In December 2019 he introduced his new YouTube studio, a van, because he had no spare room to create in[17]. During the 2020 lockdown in the UK he turned that van into a full editing suite with a self-built PC, and the video of it is his second most watched, at more than 32,000 views[14].

Instagram became the bigger stage. Across 177 reels his play counts add up to more than 1.08 million views, led by a 2023 travel reel at more than 602,000[30][33]. Together with YouTube that is more than 1.3 million views on his own accounts; we found no large reposts of his work by other accounts[1][2][30].

The Journey

At the start of 2024 he founded The Journey, a London video agency for startups and founders, and ran it[10]. It made fundraise and hero videos, livestreams, event films and social content for startups and scaleups[11]. A year later he began a vlog series about building it, which he called the first episode of his journey building The Journey; the episodes that followed went behind the scenes on shoots for SeedLegals, Kanjo and the Foundrs community, and on a trip to Scotland for a spirit brand[10][26].

Your craziest AI & Content Creator in many ways, shape and forms.

Marcus Grip, YouTube channel bio[1]

Into AI, in eighteen hours

His first AI film on the channel is The Truth, made in an 18-hour AI film hackathon: a young DJ's rise from bedroom to big stage, where success and delusion blur, inspired by Inception and Shutter Island[7]. He spent two hours socialising, four sleeping and twelve creating, and the film won second prize and was screened at the BFI London Film Festival[7]. He scripted with ChatGPT, built a trained character on Freepik, generated stills with Nano Banana and animated with Kling[7].

The same day, 10 November 2025, he posted a 15-minute tutorial on continuous, one-shot AI fashion videos in which the outfit changes without a cut[6]. With more than 7,300 views it is his most watched AI video on YouTube[6]. Later that month he also recorded the first of two episodes of an interview show on creative AI, with guests from Google Cloud and Freepik[8][9].

In February 2026 he released The New York Groove, a fully AI-made trailer about a cleaning robot in London who loses his purpose and escapes to New York, made with Higgsfield, Kling, ElevenLabs and Artlist[5]. His line for it: no actors, no cameras, no physical locations[5]. On Instagram the trailer has more than 22,800 views, the most of any of his AI films[31].

Wonder Studios

In April 2026 Chris Branch told AI LIVE's audience he had met Marcus at Freepik and that they would be doing live streams together[21]. By May, Marcus was hosting Wonder Studios' live streams, which AI LIVE's hosts watched through the Wonder app[18]. In June Chris said Marcus now does all of Wonder's live streams and a lot of their collabs, and floated him as a possible guest host[22]. He also hosted a Wonder Sessions livestream workshop with the BAFTA-winning filmmaker Hal Watmough, on how Hal made The Trials, the first film of Season 2 of Beyond The Loop, feel real[25].

When Seedance 2.5 landed in August 2026, he and Justin Hackney grabbed an iPhone the same day and ran around the House of Wonder, Wonder Studios' studio in a real church, cutting their own footage with AI gladiator overlays[19][20]. Two weeks later he released Elara & The Ash King, a ten-minute fantasy about a fairy heroine and her creature friends facing an ancient burning king. He made it for his masterclass at Wonder Studios with CapCut, entered it in CapCut's #CapCutCREAITE competition, and it has since been a finalist at two film festivals[4][34]. He also leads education in the Wonder Community[4].

Operation Sixten, on AI LIVE

Operation Sixten is the film that brought him to AI LIVE. After his dad's much-loved cat, Sixten, died, Marcus made a First World War trench film in which Sixten is the secret weapon on one last mission, and cast himself in the lead, nose ring and all[18]. The soldier is, of course, him, and GPT Image 2 got the faces to look exactly right[32]. It was shown on Ep. 119 on 5 May 2026 while he watched from the chat, where he had already written that it should be a 24-hour show[18]. Chris said a family loss could now become a war movie and a shared memory, Andrew Davis predicted many more creators would cast themselves and their friends, and the audience scored it 72 out of 100[18].

He has kept turning up since: in the chat from the first minute of Ep. 128, and on Ep. 129 the hosts said AI LIVE needed to do joint collabs with Wonder and with Marcus[23][24].
