05The Simon Meyer interview

Famous monsters, painfully ordinary problems

His trademark is a documentary talking head with yellow subtitles, given to someone you already know, about something mundane, with a twist at the end[4][5][49]. Scroll through Frankenstein's Halloween night and Dracula's first sunny day, then watch a man upgrade himself out of 720p.

Halloween nightLonely

The one night a year nobody screams

IntervieweeFrankenstein's monster

Frankenstein's monster explains, very politely, that people don't mean to be cruel, they just see a monster. He tried yoga, he tried a dating app, and mostly he stays home[4][44]. Then Halloween comes. He strings up the lights, carves a pumpkin, hands out sweets and walks down the street among the trick-or-treaters, smiling: the one night a year he can go out without anyone screaming[47]. The last line turns it: what really scares him is being alone[44].

A vampire, a $2.99 sunscreen and one sunny day

IntervieweeDracula

Dracula is sick of the dark. He watches the neighbours sunbathe and wants a normal summer, until he finds a super cheap sunscreen at the Runway Superstore[5][49]. He slathers it on, throws open the door and steps into the sun with his arms wide. Six seconds later the porch is empty, and the end card does the rest: too bad he didn't go with Solai sunscreen[5]. Simon made it with Nik Behrendt for Runway's Big Ad Contest. Every shot was made inside Runway, with the base images edited in Nano Banana and the video generated with Kling[5].

07Biography

The Simon Meyer story

A Berlin director before AI

Simon Meyer is a film director from Berlin who describes himself as a "Director, Digital DP & AI Filmmaker"[1]. Before generative video he made live-action shorts. In January 2019 he directed, edited and co-graded Vier, a two-minute film about domestic violence, with Ciro Kavouras as camera assistant[37]. In 2020 came INSOMNIA, a short about sleep disorders shot by Kavouras, and Dennis, a Corona ghost story[38][39]. Kavouras is still at his side today, as an AI artist at PROMPTR[4][20].

His first AI ad on record is Don't Wait For Tomorrow, a 30-second spot starring Karl the fox, made in August 2024 for Curious Refuge's AI Advertising Contest with Ideogram, Midjourney, Runway, Luma and ElevenLabs[35]. A spec ad inspired by MINI followed in March 2025, made with Luma's Ray2[36]. Meanwhile his TikTok, opened in 2021, grew to more than 173,000 followers and 9.4 million likes[2], and its 574 videos, many of them pre-AI camera hacks such as a DIY lens made from a potato, have 134 million views between them[60].

Famous monsters, ordinary problems

On Halloween 2025 he posted Lonely. Frankenstein's monster sits for a documentary interview, with yellow burned-in subtitles, and explains that people don't mean to be cruel, they just see a monster. He tried yoga, he tried a dating app, and Halloween is the one night he can walk around and nobody screams. The last line is the twist: what scares him is being alone[4][44]. It is his most engaged LinkedIn post, with 3,642 reactions and 493 comments[4]. Eric David sent it in to AI LIVE, where it was called the Halloween piece of the year[44], and it was a finalist for Best Viral Moment at the first Bionic Awards in London in March 2026[24][47]. The film spread well beyond his own accounts: Ege Berkina's repost on X alone has more than 494,000 views[66].

He built it sound first: a script, a rough sound bed and dialogue clips generated with Veo 3, with licensed music cut against them, before any wide shot was made. Nano Banana stills, Kling and Seedance animation, Magnific and Enhancor upscales and an ElevenLabs voice changer did the rest[4].

I think Simon is probably my, dare I say, number one AI creator in the space.

Andrew Davis, AI LIVE Ep. 124[53]

The format stuck. In April 2026 Dracula, sick of the dark and longing for a normal summer, bought a super cheap sunscreen in his entry to Runway's Big Ad Contest, made with Nik Behrendt[5]. The same deadpan talking heads run through his launch films and his ads for his own products. Chris Branch put it simply on AI LIVE: "instantly you can see it's a Simon Meyer video", and Glenn Batkin called him the king of the spin in the chat[49].

PROMPTR

Simon is a co-founder and Head of AI Creatives of PROMPTR, a Berlin AI film studio[14][15]. BakedWith describes it as part of the Florida Group, the company of the German TV presenters Joko Winterscheidt and Klaas Heufer-Umlauf[15], and PROMPTR's own site names Dr. Georg Ramme, Arne Kreutzfeldt and Tim Sproten among his fellow co-founders[14][16]. The studio went public around January 2026, when AI LIVE gave its 35-second launch clip a slot on Ep. 106[45].

PROMPTR's work runs on what he calls the agency mindset. A 15-second SPA Finesse ad for Spadel, with the agency Happiness and Artbox, took about two months of storyboards, character and location sheets and revision rounds[9]. For Scholz & Friends, PROMPTR built every scene of a Niedersachsen (Lower Saxony) campaign around the NBA star Dennis Schröder, filmed on a green screen in the US, with Arrigo Reuss directing and Simon as AI director[13][55]. In September 2026 he directed Berlin gewinnt Olympia, an emotional short PROMPTR produced for the Berliner Senat's Olympic bid campaign, from a concept by GUD.berlin with music by Tom Rosenthal[22].

Kling's launch director

Kling keeps giving him its new models early. In February 2026 he used Kling 3.0 to fake the moon landing on the moon itself, a 1969 mockumentary with 23 takes of one small step[46]. Kling's own X post of it, which calls him a Kling AI Creative Partner, has 1.88 million views[64]. Kling then sponsored his Kling 3.0 launch film, in which a man pitches his friend a blockbuster about Frank, who crosses deserts, mountains and a T-Rex to find his cat Lisa. It took about two weeks with Nano Banana Pro and Kling 3.0's multi-shot[6][47].

For Kling 4K, in April 2026, Kling commissioned him and PROMPTR to make the launch film. Its hero, Kevin, has lived his whole life in 720p, until he finds out he can just upgrade[3][50]. AI LIVE's audience gave it 18 straight 1s[50]. In September 2026 he made a black-and-white heartbreak music video for Kling 4's early access, with Ben Chimoy[57][23], and on 29 October 2026 Kling AI's channel co-uploaded MONSTERS, a Halloween short made with Kling 4.0[34]. PROMPTR made it with NO MORE, a global movement against domestic violence, and it became his fastest-spreading film: 10.2 million views on his Instagram reel within two days, and at least 8.5 million more on reposts by curator accounts in English, Spanish, Portuguese and Russian, the biggest of them, by @inteligenciaartificial.hub, with 2.47 million[61][62][65].

Contests

His biggest verified win came in March 2026. With the Detroit filmmaker Muhannad Nassar, working remotely in Higgsfield Cinema Studio, he made GRANDMA vs WASP, which took the grand prize of Higgsfield's Action Contest: $150,000 shared between them, from 8,752 entries in 139 countries. The jury praised its rhythm, character continuity and action choreography[17][18][19].

He has also placed in Runway's Big Ad Contest, but the sources disagree on where. Curious Refuge reports that a PROMPTR spot by Simon, Ciro Kavouras and Fabian Lindenmeier took first place and $65,000, made for about $300 in two weeks of development and two days of generation, and his YouTube About lists first place in the contest's second volume[20][1]. PROMPTR's own website lists second place[14]. Runway's winners list could not be read, so this page leaves the placing open.

Fake ads, real tools

Simon advertises his own products as if they were national campaigns. In March 2026 he launched CRAFTR, a Chrome extension with more than 150 prompt presets, syntax highlighting and a prompt preview, which works inside Higgsfield, Freepik, Kling, Google Flow and Midjourney. Its launch ad has two parents called into school because their son's prompts are disturbing[7]. CRAFTR 2.0 in May asked 100-year-olds what annoys them most about prompting, and took the most 1s of its AI LIVE episode[8][52]. To sell his cracked old Samsung Galaxy S9 he made it a high-end commercial, with a massive five-inch display and a power cable that is not included[11].

In July 2026 came Dieter, an ordinary bespectacled German uncle who stars in Come to Germany, a spec national ad for Germany built with invideo's Agent One and Seedance, where the ordinariness is the joke[21][31]. Dieter went to Spain in a sequel, made with a crew of specialised agents in invideo's Agent Two[30]; its Instagram reel, with 13.8 million views, is his most watched[63].

Bands that don't exist, and a YouTube channel

His first music video, This Band does not exist!, came out in January 2026: about three weeks with Kling 2.6, Suno, Nano Banana Pro, OmniHuman 1.5, Seedance and Sora 2[26]. In June he relaunched his YouTube channel as a tutorial channel with Modernland, an AI band that plays a care home, and Lipsync Musicvideos with A.I., his most watched upload, which shows how to lip-sync a whole song from one start frame[27][25][12]. His tutorials, several sponsored by invideo, cover start frames, consistent characters, organising AI film projects and hybrid films that put an AI actor into real plates he shoots himself on a Blackmagic PYXIS 6K[29][28][32].

On AI LIVE

Seventeen of his pieces have played on AI LIVE since November 2025[44][57]. Andrew Davis calls Lonely his favourite AI video and Simon his number one AI creator[47][53]. Chris has called him the European Neural Viz, and knew the CRAFTR ad was his within ten seconds[48]. When PROMPTR launched, Chris told him nobody deserved an agency launch more, as he had told Dave Clark when Promise launched[45]. Alex Patrascu knew him as the man who won the Higgsfield contest[48], Uncanny Harry shared Kling 3.0 launch week and Runway's ad contest with him[46][56], Aze Alter used invideo's agents on the same show as Modernland[53], and Chris rates Mark Wachholz on Simon's level for short film[58].

It is his most engaged post, with 3,642 reactions, and was a Bionic Awards finalist for Best Viral Moment[4][24]. Reposts carried it further: Ege Berkina's on X has more than 494,000 views[66].

Who made the AI Dracula sunscreen ad?

Simon Meyer, with Nik Behrendt, for Runway's Big Ad Contest in April 2026. Dracula buys a super cheap sunscreen to enjoy a normal summer, and the end card says too bad he didn't go with Solai sunscreen. Every shot was made in Runway, with base images in Nano Banana and video in Kling[5].

Who made Kling's 4K launch video about the man who lived in 720p?

Simon Meyer and his studio PROMPTR, commissioned by Kling in April 2026. Kevin has lived his whole life in 720p until he discovers he can just upgrade to Kling 4K. It drew 18 straight 1s on AI LIVE Ep. 118[3][50].

What is PROMPTR?

A Berlin AI film studio that Simon Meyer co-founded and where he is Head of AI Creatives. It is part of the Florida Group of Joko Winterscheidt and Klaas Heufer-Umlauf, and has made client work for Spadel, the state of Lower Saxony and the Berliner Senat as well as Kling's launch films[14][15][9][13][22].

Did Simon Meyer win the Higgsfield contest?

Yes. In March 2026 he and the Detroit filmmaker Muhannad Nassar won the grand prize of Higgsfield's Action Contest with GRANDMA vs WASP, sharing $150,000. The contest drew 8,752 entries from 139 countries[17][18].

Did Simon Meyer win Runway's Big Ad Contest?

He placed, but the sources disagree on where. Curious Refuge reports first place and $65,000 for a PROMPTR spot by Simon, Ciro Kavouras and Fabian Lindenmeier, and his YouTube About says first place; PROMPTR's own website lists second place. Runway's winners list could not be checked[20][1][14].

What AI tools does Simon Meyer use?

Mainly Kling, Nano Banana, Seedance and invideo's Agent One and Agent Two, plus Runway, Sora 2 for start frames, ElevenLabs, Suno and his own prompt extension, CRAFTR. Lonely was built on Veo 3 dialogue[6][4][25][11][29][7].

What is CRAFTR?

A Chrome extension Simon Meyer launched in March 2026 for writing, structuring and reusing prompts for AI video, with more than 150 presets, syntax highlighting and a prompt preview. It works inside Higgsfield, Freepik, Kling, Google Flow and Midjourney. CRAFTR 2.0 followed in May 2026[7][8].

Who is Dieter in Simon Meyer's videos?

His recurring everyman, an ordinary bespectacled German uncle who stars in Come to Germany, a spec national ad for Germany from July 2026, and its sequel in Spain. Both were made with invideo's AI agents[21][31][30].

How does Simon Meyer make AI lip-sync music videos?

He locks one start frame, generates every shot size, splits the song into 15-second chunks and lip-syncs each in Seedance with the start frame plus a black-screen MP4 carrying the audio, letting an invideo Agent One agent batch the repetitive work. He shows it in his tutorial Lipsync Musicvideos with A.I.[25].

How many followers does Simon Meyer have?

By his own count his work has more than 150 million views across platforms[2][60][3][59][62][1].

Where is Simon Meyer from?

He is a German director based in Berlin, where PROMPTR is also based[1][17][14].

Has Simon Meyer been on AI LIVE?

His work has. Seventeen of his pieces played on the weekly show between November 2025 and September 2026, including Lonely, the Kling 4K film, which topped Ep. 118, and the Mercedes-Benz G-Class spec ad, and co-host Andrew Davis calls him his number one AI creator[44][50][51][53].
